Weave privacy policy
This privacy policy applies to the Weave app (hereby referred to as “Application”) for mobile devices that was created by Mazze Studios (hereby referred to as “Service Provider”) as a Commercial service. This service is intended for use “AS IS”.
Weave stitches your screenshots and photos into one long image. It works on your phone. This policy explains what Weave does with information, in plain terms.
In short: your images never leave your phone. Weave has no account, no ads and no analytics. The only data that leaves your device is what is needed to sell and restore the optional Weave Pro purchase, which goes to Google Play and RevenueCat.
1. Information we do not collect
We (the developer) do not receive, store or have access to:
- your screenshots, photos, scroll captures, exports or projects
- your name, email address, phone number, contacts or location
- your messages, browsing history or the content of other apps
- advertising identifiers (Weave does not use the advertising ID and shows no ads)
- analytics or crash reports (Weave has no analytics or crash-reporting library)
We run no servers for the app.
2. Information that stays on your device
Weave processes the following only on your phone. It is never uploaded by Weave.
| What | Why | Where it is kept |
|---|---|---|
| Photos and screenshots you pick, and recent screenshots (to suggest a weave) | To find, stitch and export your images | Read from your gallery; not copied except as below |
| Scroll-capture frames | To build the stitched image while you scroll | App-private storage, removed with the project |
| Images shared into Weave from other apps | To weave them | App-private storage, removed with the project |
| Projects (the list of images and your edits), previews | So you can reopen and change a weave later | App-private storage until you delete the project or use Settings → Storage |
| Settings (theme, default format, suggestions on/off) | To remember your choices | App-private storage |
| A counter of free scroll captures used | To apply the free trial limit | App-private storage |
| Exports | Your result | Pictures/Weave (images) or Documents/Weave (PDF), where you can see and delete them |
Your original images are never changed by Weave. Weave can offer to delete them after you save, and only does so if you confirm in Android’s own dialog.
Device backup. If you have Android’s backup turned on, Android (not Weave) may include the app’s private files in your Google account’s device backup, up to Android’s size limit. That can include Weave’s settings, project list and app-private copies. It is handled by Google under your Google account and its privacy policy, and you control it in your phone’s system settings (Settings → Google → Backup). Weave does not run its own backup.
3. Permissions Weave asks for
| Permission | What it is used for |
|---|---|
Photos and media (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, and “selected photos”) | Pick screenshots and photos to stitch, and find newly taken screenshots for the optional suggestion |
| Storage on Android 9 and older | Save your exports |
| Notifications | Show scroll-capture status (with Stop), and the optional “weave these screenshots” suggestion. Turn suggestions off in Settings |
| Screen capture (Android’s “start recording or casting” consent) | Only while you run a scroll capture. Android asks every time. Frames are used to build your image and stay on your phone |
| Foreground service (media projection) | Keeps the capture running with a visible notification while you scroll |
| Vibrate | A short buzz when a capture starts |
| Run at startup | Re-arms the optional screenshot-suggestion watcher after a restart |
| Internet and network state | Only for the purchase service (section 4) |
Apps that block screen capture (for example some banking apps) cannot be captured, and Weave does not try to get around that.
4. Purchases and RevenueCat
Weave Pro is an optional one-time purchase. It is paid for and processed by Google Play. Weave uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.), a service provider, to check that a purchase is valid and to restore it on your phone. This is the only place where data leaves your device.
When you open Weave, the RevenueCat library in the app contacts RevenueCat. The data involved is:
| Data | Source | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| An anonymous app user ID (a random identifier RevenueCat creates for this installation; not your name or email) | Generated by the RevenueCat library | Recognise your purchase, restore it, and show your Pro status |
| Purchase information: the product bought, purchase and expiry state, order and purchase token, price and currency | Google Play | Confirm that you own Weave Pro and unlock it |
| Device and app information: app version, operating system and version, device model, language/region, and the SDK version | The RevenueCat library | Make the purchase service work and handle errors |
| IP address | Seen by RevenueCat’s servers when the app connects, as with any internet request | Delivery, fraud prevention and approximate country for pricing and tax |
Weave does not send RevenueCat your name, email, photos, screenshots or anything you create. We do not receive your payment details; Google handles payment.
RevenueCat and Google process this data under their own privacy policies:
- RevenueCat: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
- Google Play: https://policies.google.com/privacy
RevenueCat acts as a service provider for the developer and does not use this data to advertise to you. If you reinstall Weave or use a different phone, “Restore” asks Google Play for your past purchases of this app.
5. Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share data only with the two services above, to provide the purchase feature. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
6. Retention and deletion
- On your phone: delete a project to remove its images, or use Settings → Storage → Clear unused. Uninstalling Weave removes everything it stored. Exports you saved to your gallery or Documents stay until you delete them.
- Purchase records: held by Google Play and RevenueCat for as long as they need for accounting, fraud prevention and legal reasons, according to their policies. Because the developer holds no account or personal identity for you, there is no developer-side profile to delete. To ask RevenueCat to delete data tied to your anonymous ID, contact us at the address above and include the app user ID if you can find it, and we will pass the request on.
7. Security
Weave never sends your images anywhere, so they cannot be intercepted in transit. The purchase service uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what Weave stores to the minimum above.
8. Your choices and rights
You can: deny or withdraw any permission in your phone’s settings (some features then stop working); turn suggestions off in Settings; delete your projects at any time; and uninstall the app. Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under the GDPR, or California under the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data and to object to its processing. Since the developer holds no personal data about you, there is normally nothing to access or delete; for purchase data, see section 6. Contact us and we will respond.
9. Children
Weave is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Weave collects nothing about its users apart from the purchase data in section 4.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will post the new version here and update the effective date. If a change affects what data leaves your device, we will say so inside the app before it applies.
