Simple Markdown Editor privacy policy
Privacy Policy for Simple Markdown Editor
Last updated: 24 October 2026
Simple Markdown Editor is provided by Mazze Studios. This policy explains how the Android app handles information when you write documents, preview content, use file features, contact us or support development.
Privacy contact: help@mazzestudios.com
1. Documents and settings on your device
Your Markdown documents, folders, favorites, recovery drafts, version snapshots and preferences are stored in the app’s local device storage. Editing, local Markdown preview, mathematical expressions and Mermaid diagrams do not require an account or a connection to our servers. The app does not upload your document library to Mazze Studios or RevenueCat and does not provide its own cloud synchronization service.
When you import a file, the app creates a local copy. Exporting or sharing sends the content you select to the destination or app you choose. That destination may be a cloud storage provider or another service with its own privacy practices. Device or operating-system backup and restore features may also apply according to your Android settings and provider. Keep your own exported backups.
2. Online images and external links
When Preview displays an image referenced by an HTTPS URL in a document, the app requests that image directly from its host. The host receives the requested URL, your IP address and network-request information, and may keep server logs under its own policies. A URL can itself contain information supplied by the document author. Embedded images can be displayed locally without an image-host request.
Opening an external link, the privacy page or an email app passes the selected URL or email address to the app you choose. Browsers, email providers and linked websites handle information under their own policies. Do not include confidential information in image URLs or send sensitive documents to destinations you do not trust.
3. Optional support purchases and RevenueCat
All editor features are available without a purchase. Support development offers optional, repeatable consumable purchases through Google Play; these do not create a subscription or unlock features.
When you open Support development, the app initializes RevenueCat to load and manage purchase options. RevenueCat uses an automatically generated app-user identifier and processes purchase history, purchase tokens, transaction details and technical information needed for the service, such as app/device platform information. We use these records to validate transactions, resolve purchase issues and understand support-purchase activity. No document text is sent for this purpose.
Google Play processes payment information under Google’s policies. Mazze Studios does not receive your full payment-card details. RevenueCat and Google may retain records needed for their service, security and legal obligations. Relevant provider policies are https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy-policy and https://policies.google.com/privacy.
4. Contacting us
If you email help@mazzestudios.com, we receive your email address, message and any attachments or purchase references you choose to provide. We use them to answer your request and investigate issues. Please do not send payment-card details, passwords or sensitive document contents unless necessary for your request.
5. Uses and recipients of information
We use information to operate the app and optional purchases, provide support, understand purchase activity, protect the service and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your documents or use an advertising SDK in this app. Purchase and technical data are processed by Google Play and RevenueCat as described above; email is handled by the email services involved. User-selected image hosts, export destinations and sharing apps receive information when you use those features. We may disclose information where legally required or necessary to protect rights and security.
6. Retention and deletion
Local documents and snapshots remain until you delete them or remove the app’s stored data. Deleting a document in the app removes its local saved document data; exported copies and backups must be managed separately. Clearing app storage or uninstalling can remove your local library and preferences. These actions do not delete Google Play purchase history, request a refund or automatically erase RevenueCat records.
We retain support correspondence and purchase-related information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide support, operate and secure purchases, resolve disputes and meet applicable legal or recordkeeping obligations. The required period depends on the information and purpose. Provider backup and retention practices may also apply.
To ask about or request deletion of information associated with you, email help@mazzestudios.com with the subject “Simple Markdown Editor privacy request”. For purchase-related requests, include an order reference and approximate date if available so we can locate the relevant record. We may request limited information to verify the request. We will explain any records that must be retained or requests that must be directed to Google or another provider. You do not need an app account to contact us.
7. Security and international processing
The app uses Android’s app-private storage for its local library. RevenueCat communicates using encrypted connections, and supported remote images use HTTPS URLs. Android’s device security settings and your chosen export destinations also affect protection of your files. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
Service providers may process information outside your country, subject to their contractual protections and applicable law. We do not promise that purchase or support records remain in a particular country.
8. Your choices and rights
You can use the editor without opening Support development, avoid remote-image requests by using local content or embedded images, choose where to export or share, and delete locally stored documents. Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to certain processing, or complain to a privacy authority. Contact help@mazzestudios.com to discuss a request.
9. Children
The app is a general-purpose writing tool and is not specifically designed as a service for children. We do not ask users to create profiles or provide their age. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact help@mazzestudios.com so we can investigate and address it as required.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the app or its services change. The date above identifies the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated where required. For privacy questions, contact Mazze Studios at help@mazzestudios.com.
